Icon Training and Assessment - A History

Icon was formed in July 2000. The policy back then and still today is to deliver quality training and assessment services at the best price, whilst ensuring minimum disruption and production loss to your business.

Our core work in the first 12 months of our existence was the training and assessment of the Domestic Accredited Certification Scheme (ACS). Our unique bundle process allowed us to assess multiple ACS elements by cross reference of assessment criteria in half of the time required in other assessment centres. When this was combined with a competitive price structure via the ICON PRICEWATCH SCHEME, the ICON way became irresistible to CORGI operatives.

The popularity of our domestic scheme soon generated a demand for a similar scheme in the Industrial and commercial gas sector. In partnership with Zurich certification a similar process was produced with equal success over the following months.

The ideas and principles that where developed throughout this period have been nurtured and cultivated to provide a broad range of services to the ELECTRICAL industry as well as the GAS and CONSTRUCTION sectors. Courses such as the City & Guilds 2382 (17th Edition) and the City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection and Testing) are now available at our centres.

At ICON we adjust and develop our services so that you will always keep up to date. We have been market leaders in all of our services from career change programmes (Gas fitting or Electrical Domestic installer programmes) to the ACS.

Icon Training and Assessment - 4D's

Here at ICON we DEDUCE, DEVELOP and DELIVER whilst others DITHER. Courses such as the DISQ cover the electrical requirements of the BUILDING REGULATIONS PART P which came into force in 2005. It is also envisaged that the Electrical sector will produce a new set of regulations in 2007 (17th Edition) and that the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations will be replaced within the next eighteen months, so watch this space!
